Removing the Ctrl-Alt-Del Login Screen

WARNING: This procedure involves changes to your Registry! Improper Registry settings can cause your computer to not start. Please create a repair disk before making changes to the Registry using rdisk.exe! Otherwise you may suffer from severe mental depression. DO IT!!!! Making these changes to the Registry will compromise the C2 security clearance of Windows NT. You must also be logged on as the Administrator in order to make these changes.

Now that all that stuff is out of the way lets get rid of that #@$@% log in screen. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe). You will go to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Once you get to this key you will have to add two (2) new strings. To create a new string value right click on the Winlogon folder. Then select New > String Value. This will create a new value in the right hand pane. Name this value DefaultPassword and press Enter. Now double click the DefaultPassword that you just created. The value for this key will be your Windows NT login password. This will not work if you have a blank password. Now create a second new string value (Right click on the Winlogon folder. Then select New > String Value.) The name of this string will be AutoAdminLogon. Double click the new AutoAdminLogon string and set the value to 1. Once you fininish your regisrty should look like this. Now close the Registry Editor and reboot. When you reboot you should go right into the Windows NT desktop without having to log on. To get the log on screen back just change the AutoAdminLogon value to 0.
